Interpretation is divided into consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting. Simultaneous interpretation is a popular way of translation in the world today. It has a strong academic and professional character and is usually used in formal international conferences. Ninety-five percent of international conferences in the world use simultaneous interpretation. The feature is that the speaker speaks continuously while the translator listens and translates. The average interval between the source text and the translation is three to four seconds. Simultaneous interpretation has been welcomed by conference organizers for its simultaneous translation with spokespersons without taking up meeting time. After World War II, it became popular in many international organizations.

The so-called simultaneous interpretation refers to a way of translating ideas expressed by another language (source language) in one language (target language) at almost the same speed as the spokesperson of the original language, in an oral form. In recent years, this kind of translation has been called conference interpreting in many parts of the world. In most cases, simultaneous interpretation is accomplished through conference equipment. The interpreter sits in a special interpreter box and receives the speaker's speech through headphones. Then the speaker's speech is transmitted to the audience of the conference in the translator's language through a microphone. The audience uses the headphones to select the required language channels and receive translation services.

Compared with consecutive interpretation, simultaneous interpretation has the following advantages: (1) in simultaneous interpretation, speech and translation are carried out simultaneously without taking up meeting time; (2) simultaneous interpretation can use electronic devices to simultaneously translate multiple languages at the same time. (3) In large-scale international conferences, interpreters can sometimes get their speeches in advance and make preparations in order to improve the accuracy of translation. Therefore, 90% of international conferences are conducted by simultaneous interpretation.

Simultaneous interpretation can be divided into the following situations: (1) Conventional simultaneous interpretation: in translation, the interpreter has no manuscripts, * listening, thinking, interpretation to complete simultaneous interpretation at the same time. (2) Visual translation: The interpreter receives the written speech of the speaker, listens to the speaker's speech, reads the manuscript and interprets at the same time. (3) Whisper Interpretation: No simultaneous interpretation equipment is required. The interpreter listens to the speaker and interprets in the ears of the delegates. (4) Simultaneous Interpretation: The translator receives the written translation, listens to the spokesman reading the manuscript while reading the translation. Simultaneous reading requires attention to what the speaker adds and decreases in the process of reading the paper. Sometimes the speaker may suddenly drop out of the manuscript to make a speech.
